Because I want to change the hard drive and copy the hidden partition to the new hard drive. I don't have a DVD burner on the laptop and cannot make a CD+DVD recovery disc (7 cds are too many). So I am also wondering if I can make the startup CD; then copy the recovery folder in the hidden partition to another computer and burn it on a DVD to make the CD+DVD recovery disc. Anyone tried this?

Norton Ghost will let you make images of the full drive and restore them to any other drive. The only issue is you will need to store the image to somewhere. If you have another computer I believe Ghost supports storing to network drives.

download the program "dd" for windows. It allows the contents of 1 drive to be copied to another drive, or a file( ie ISO'd)

Err... what is this "dd for windows" program? Where can we download this?

Also, can you ISO (image) a CD too with this program?
