NHC: BSOD after reinstall

I didn't like all the crap the T60 came installed with so I made an XP install disk with the i386 folder following the procedures I found here. The install went well, but now when I run NHC I instantly get a blue screen of death and the system reboots. I didn't get a chance to get the error message and I don't want to keep crashing like this.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Any idea about the solution?

I reinstalled NHC and .net 2.0 and I still get the BSOD. The blue screen mentions an IRQ error. Does anyone have any idea what might cause this issue?

I am guessing that there is an IRQ conflict somewhere for a device that NHC is trying to access; it could be that the preload came with some tweaked IRQ settings for Windows to make sure that the conflict wasn't encountered. You can reset the values yourself in the device manager. Did you make the recovery disk set? If you did, try going back to the factory preload state, installing NHC, and seeing what happens. If it doesn't give you a BSOD, then there is probably a specialized setting that got changed for the preload over a clean install of XP. HTH :)

I have been noticing some odd things with my install for my T60. For example it is on average taking me just over 2 minutes to reach the desktop. About 1.5 min to the login screen and a little over 30 seconds to get to the desktop after I login. That seems pretty unacceptable to me. This is with all unneeded services disabled, bootvis optimised, defragged and more. I don't really understand all of the bootvis trace stuff, but it looks like the Client Security software is delaying things a lot.

When reinstalling things I made a few images along the way. With no drivers installed the system reaches the desktop in 28 seconds. On the basic image NHC is working fine. I guess there is a conflict between something I installed.
