Do you think it's ok to use DDR2 4200 in my T60?

Do you think it's ok to use DDR2 4200 in my T60?

#1 Post by kaotic504 » Sun Mar 26, 2006 5:20 pm

I have 1gig of ram (DDR2 4200) that i bought for my Z60T (which has since been returned) just sitting around. i know that your system will only run as fast as your slowest stick of ram, so i'll actually be "under-clocking" my memory bandwidth, but do you think it's still worth it to put it in my laptop or should i sell the stick or should i just leave my laptop w/ the 512mb stick of DDR2 5300? thanks!

p.s. also what kind/Namebrand of ram do you recommend, typically my desktops use only Corsair and the stick of DDR2 for my notebook is also Corsair, so should i stick w/ the Corsair for the T60 or is there something better? i've also been considering Crucial.

It might not work at all, if the system is going to try to overclock the slow RAM, which it might, depending on the implementation of the chipset, which I'm not familiar with. Try it, if it works, compare the performance and decide.

Corsair is good, Crucial is also good. It doesn't really matter. Most of the time, as long as it has proper specs and good warranty, even generic RAM would be fine.

i was under the intention that it wouldn't overclock my memory at all. oh well, guess i'll try it tomorrow and see how it goes. does anyone know if CPU-z works w/ Core Duo's yet?

In the Specs.

In the specs there it's mentioned that it can take 2GB DDR2 533 sodimm module. So it might work.

Also, the latest Cpuid supports duo.
