T60p: Bootup FAN ERROR!
T60p: Bootup FAN ERROR!
I got a FAN ERROR today that puzzled me. Actually, it scared me.
On bootup, right after the startup screen, I would get a FAN ERROR in the upper left corner of the screen. The machine then powered down. Tried combinations of using AC vs. BATT, F1 & Think buttons and even finally knocked it around a bit (the corner of the T60p where the fan/heatsink are). Nothing worked at first...
I finally got it to work (boot xp) but couldn't figure out what had happened. If I'm right, maybe the fan got stuck and knocking it lightly on the table freed it up again?
Anyone seen this on any T?
Thanks in advance!
BTW: I did search a bit in the T60 threads for this but didn't see this specific issue. Sorry if someone else has already posted this...

You could also try looking at the T4X Series as there have been fan errors reported there as well for quite awhile now.
Maybe it was a lose connection?

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

Sorry to hear that.
Maybe you can find out some same issues mentioned before about the T4x. We know that the fan will run ceaselessly after the machine is turned on.
And maybe planty of time spending on playing game is a main reason.

fan error
I had EXACTLY the same thing happen to me this week on my t60p. Tried to boot 3 times - same behavior.
I turned the machine over, banged the corner where the fan is and presto everything has worked normally since.
At some point, I'll pull the unit open and see if there is a loose wire.
