Hi,

I just got a 2007-76U today to compare and evaluate with the 2007-68U. Planning to keep one of these 2.

I was in the process of settng up the 15"(76U) and after a couple of reboots, the LCD panel is completely dark and I'm unable to see anything... I can make out some bright images during startup(like the Lenovo brand image) during startup very faintly and the system boots up, but the LCD remains dark.

I had changed the display to 32 bit and set the dpi to match the resolution before this happened...

Anybody has faced a similar issue, any suggestions to work around this??

Thanks

Looks like a problem with the backlighting...

Try stepping through the video output selection with Fn+F7.

You may have indvertently set it for external display only.

aside from the hardware failure, which machine do you prefer?

The machines specs are exactly the same except for the screen size.

My preference is the 14". I felt the 14" build quality was better in many ways. There is way too much flex on the 15" where the vol buttons are present, the top left edge does not sit well over the side, I could just lift the top edge a few mm with one finger.

Ofcourse the weight and size. The 15" is thicker than the 14.

The flexview was good on the 15" but I personally think it's not worth the increased weight, price and size over the 14, and interms of real estate, there isn't really much gain(speaking for myself).

i forgot..
The keyboard was chicony on the 76U and i hated it(noisy, deep, and a cheap feel to it), the ALPS on the 68U is way better....

on the T4x series, NMB was superior to both ALPS and chicony, so perhaps you might want to give one a try. I believe they're only around $40 on the parts site, but not currently in stock.
