Problems when power mgt turns monitor off..?
Problems when power mgt turns monitor off..?
I have a new T60P (2007-93U)
I ran software installer and it found a newer video driver (it has the ATI 256mb graphics card).
Driver Packaging Version 8.204-051220a1-029804C-Lenovo
This is what was originally installed and on the web, but I heard they had issues with original drivers that were a higher rev and they left the files on the disk, when software installer ran it installed the update.
I did a test and seting turn monitor off to 1 min consistently turns it off and won't bring it back unless you suspend/resume. Even after I removed the driver and installed the older version.
Anyone else having this issue?
Please let me know.. Other than that I think this is a great solid system.

I too have had a problem getting my screen to come back on after it goes off.
Problems when power mgt turns monitor off..?
I have odd results. I built all the pcs from the same build by IBM/Lenovo then individually removed the bad driver from add/remove programs (driver only). Then rebooted, installed the older version and deleted the newer on disk in the C:\IBMTOOLS\VIDEO folder. 3 duplicate machines 2007-93u are all ok, mine is a demo from Lenovo but I put on our build.
The other system is a 14" version with the verizon Wireless card is also ok, I can change the power settings to 1 minute to turn off monitor on both power & battery, all are on the network, all drivers removed/readded the same way, but mine, after another remove/re-add of older version worked for a while today (several hours) then stopped working again. Any advice? It also isn't the pc, I moved the drive to another machine a 4th and it has same issues. The drive for that 4th 15" version built again from the same clone works fine. I cloned that one after fixing the issue on the clone first. The workaround is NOT to turn off the monitor in Power Mgt or if you get a blank screen suspend/resume returns the screen. The Blank Screen saver does not have the problem.
Any help would be wonderful, other than that I think the machine is great

screen
when my T60p screen turns off after 5 min of non use while on battery, it wont power back on. Have to reboot by holding down power button. Any suggestions?
Re: screen
Until the problem is fixed, you can get it back by supending (Fn-F4) and resuming (Fn). Not an ideal solutoin as the machine goes to sleep in the middle but it's faster than rebooting.stephenaron wrote:when my T60p screen turns off after 5 min of non use while on battery, it wont power back on. Try the Function F4 to suspend, once it is suspended, resume it (hit any key) and it should come back, mine always does.
As a workaround:
Control Panel, power settings, make your own power options and change turn off monitor to Never on both battery and power until a permanent solution is found.
Are you running this version, it is whats on the web, but if you did a software installer, it found the other version on your system and in such case you will have to remove it as i mentioned in other thread.

Let me know if the suspend/resume works for you..

New Bios Released
Hi all. A new version of bios & embedded controller released. They do not update from software installer or system update but it has helped so far with the monitor issue, more tests will be needed. You can use a bootable cd version or online version, however the readme files are reversed so to get the right readme look at the other type of update Bios is version 1.04 embedded 1.02
The new BIOS did not correct the problem for me.
To solve the screen turn off problem, I programmed Fn-F7 via Presentation Director to always display the native resolution which also solves the problem.
The interesting thing I've notived about this problem is that when my PC is in 1400x1050 (or whatever it is) and goes blank and then I push Fn-F7 the screen comes back on but appears it was at 800x600 resolution as that's what all my open windows are resized to. Very strange indeed.
I also find this problem does NOT occur if I cold boot the computer undocked. It only seems to happen if it was docked at some point after booting and is later undocked.
