Hi2u's!
I have been in love with my T60 for quite a while now, however I have a question regarding the ultrabay batteries. I don't have any from my previous laptops so I have on way to figure out.
anyway - I was wondering if the ultrabay slim battery that you can use for the T40, 41, 42 and 43 is compatible with the T60. I see that there is an Ultrabay Slim Advanced battery and just an Ultrabay Slim Battery. Both seem to have the same voltages but not sure if they will be compatible with the ultrabay port on my laptop.
Anyone has any clue?

One would think that if you call Lenovo Sales they can answer that question?

Nope, they dont. I have one from T42 and it doesnt fit the my T60. I wanted to cry.

Check the dimensions on teh web site. I assume that you CANT use the batteries b/w the systems. I have a T23 with the Ultrabay battery, and that one for sure isnt interchangeable.

well, that one isnt interchangeable becuase the T60 has the Ubay slim and the T23 has the Ubay2000. the T40 and T60 batteries are not interchangeable becuase the T60 uses 20V and the T4x uses 16v.

This is a bit far-fetched, but what about the ultrabay slim battery for the z60m? After returning it for the few pixels, and cancelling my second order in hopes of getting the new z61m, I might want to get a T60 now. I can't return the battery since it's been so long, so I might as well sell it, unless it fits in the T60!

Now the one from the Z should fit just fine.

I have both Z & T series and all UltraBay Slim devices fit them both.

Wow, that's my ideal world, too, owning both Z & T.

What are the cons of the T60? I see that Lenovo doesn't allow custom-built T60 yet. Also, unless I get the high-end GPU, I can't get the 15" 1600x1200 screen (I loved my old Dell Inspiron 8000 with the same resolution). It sounds like the 14" doesn't have FlexView and isn't as bright, so I'm thinking of the 15" 1400x1050. Is it really worth it to get the extra resolution?
I really want a widescreen, and the cool multimedia-oriented features of the z60m. But I'm tired of waiting SO LONG for it. My first one shipped in less than 30 days, the second one took longer than 1.5 months, so I cancelled it. If the z61m DOES come out on May 16th, that means I won't get one my hands on one until... most likely Aug/Sept!

I am very pleased with the T60. The resolution is a personal thing but for the extra money to buy a T60P you really need to think about it. Myself I really like the SXGA+
Regarding the "wait" I agree that's (for me) the worst part. When I want to save sales tax and shipping and get the computer right away, I go to Euclid Computers. They have an incredible inventory and lots of choices. Free shipping and no sales tax. I have purchased 5 ThinkPads from them and the service is excellent. They care about there customers and you can order online or by phone. I do not work for them, just a happy customer. Plus they discount the price of the computer as well. They are an IBM/Lenovo authorized reseller so you get one in a sealed box, just as though you got it direct from Lenovo.

Hope this helps, please let me know how you do and what you choose. I'm always interested in feedback and users experiences.

Is there sales tax for California? The problem is, I can get EPP pricing through a friend, but I'd have to pay for tax via Lenovo's site. I wonder if I can get an EPP price from Euclid...

Yes, there is sales tax in California. You could call them and inquire, but my though is that they would not deviate from their pricing.
Let me know the result.
Thanks

Thanks for your input, Archer6. I've decided to make the EPP purchase. I bought the T60 custom-built version (that option wasn't available just last week!), and the est. ship date so far is 5/15. Judging from other forum members who got theirs in 1-3 weeks, I'm hoping for the same. Plus, I'm only getting the T60, not the T60p, so not GPU shortage to delay my purchase.... I HOPE!

How is this far fetched? Its the reason the power adaptors, docks, and main batteries from the T4x dont work on teh T60, and the reason the ubay battery wont either. The Z series is on the same power plane as the T60, so those accessories will work.

Mixing the 20V and 16V will not be good in either directon. And I'm sure IBM / Lenovo put sime little plastic tab / nub on the later ones that will not allow them to fit in the older ones, & vice versa. So while they may look the same there will be some little notch or tab that prevents thm from interchanging.
