T60P Boot up time?

#1 Post by archer6 » Fri Apr 07, 2006 6:22 pm

There are many reasons I'm thinking of a T60P, one of the reasons is the 7200 RPM hard drive. However I have not experienced anything other than a 5400 RPM drive.

What is the boot up time of the T60P?

How to you find the speed (just an approx estimate) when hard drive accessing is involved.

Thanks, Archer6

Do you mean before or after all the cruft is cleared up? There are so many things loaded by default, it does take a while to start. That will not be a fair comparison, and I didn't have the time to strip down the startup to the bare essentials, or time that.

Otherwise, I experienced this 7200 RPM drive moving from a 4800 RPM drive, and I found a substantial difference. Bulky apps launched acceptably, and bootup, especially on GNU/Linux (Fedora Core 5) was super-super slick.
Happily picks up his three grand; unhappily hands it over to another company.

I was looking for feedback with the system in the as delivered state. Especially since all of us tend to customize our startup configurations, ad/remove OEM apps like anti-virus etc.

In general just some sort of indication of the noticeable difference.
