T60 docks

Three questions:
1) The answer is mostlikely no, but I will ask anyway. Can the T60 use the Mini-Dock 2878 which was designed, I believe, for the T43?
2) And what is the diffrence between a dock and a Port REPLICATOR?
3) Finally why are these things so expensive? Certianly not the technology, not the parts, not the plastic ... it would seem like a rather simple thing to build, so why so expensive?

thanks

1) No. Different connector location on the bottom of the laptops.
2) One (replicator) simply duplicates the ports on the laptop. One (dock) usually adds additional ports or functions, e.g. additional Ultrabay, PCI card slot.
3) Because they can charge anything they want.

James

You could try a usb port replicator if you only want to connect keyboard, mouse and printer. They seem to be more reasonably priced and should be future proof for a while.

The ones with video out seems to be more expensive.

If that is all you want to connect, why not just use a USB Hub??

Make sure

FYI - when I ordered the mini-dock, the sales guy had no clue. They sent me the one for the T43. Make sure if you do order something that they do the correct one. When I received the first one and saw that it would never in a million years fit on the dock, I called tech support. The guy told me to watch the viseo on their site, as if I'm an idiot that can't put a laptop on a dock. It was only after I ranted and raved that hw would finally look it up. Turns out - it was the wrong one!
