SATA Drivers for RIS XP Install - help

#1 Post by RiverFly » Wed Apr 12, 2006 2:43 pm

What are trying to do is install XP over the network onto the T60. Due to the SATA drive/controller, the unattended installation fails at the point where it is trying to locate a disk drive for installation.

We have downloaded the Intel Matrix drivers, but have been unable to automatically load them. The error message we encounter is:

"Setup did not find any hard disks installed in your computer. Press F3 to exit setup."

This would be the same as if one had not pressed F6 during a setup of XP or 2000 to install drivers for an unsupported (or new) drive controller.

I used the information in this article from Maximum PC on how to Slipstream an XP CD with Raid drivers that load automatically. Maybe you can modify the information to work for you. Note that the Update command for slipstreaming SP2 did not work. I had to use the Integrate command. See PC Magazine article at the bottom.

You can also alter the BIOS to allow the controller to appear in "compatibility" mode (not the default).
