Is ThinkVantage System Update reliable?

The Thinkvantage System Update lists one of the recommended update as ATI X1400 driver update (Version 8.204-051220a1-029804C-Lenovo). However, what is already installed is Driver Packaging Version 8.204-051220a1-031127C-Lenovo . Is the installed driver (031127C) more recent than the one recommended by Thinkvantage system update?

Also, another update is for the BIOS.

Should I go ahead with the update?

Thanks.

I'm not sure about the ATI driver update version, however I can say that I just used the ThinkVantage System Update and it ran fast, very reliable. Then once downloaded the installation was automatic. Nearly too good to be true.

Yes to the BIOS upgrade, dude. 1.04 came out and I upgraded immediately with no issues.

Not sure why that didn't show up on the System update...but I have a tendancy to do things manually anyway...

I am very particular and always did things manually too.

Then with my new T60 and the improved ThinkVantage Software I thought I would gamble, take a chance and use the automatic feature on that identifies your machine, then downloads the appropriate drivers and installs them.

I'm here to say that it's really impressive, reliable and very fast. For my machine it provided a BIOS update, which unpacked it self and installed automatically as I sat there in amazement! It's so nice when something performs as advertised.

Just though I would put in my 2 cents worth, and share the experience. Especially since I thought long and hard if I wanted to "risk" and automatic BIOS update :D
