WiFi icon vanished from Control Panel

WiFi icon suddenly vanished from the Control Panel, and I definitley enjoyed using that wireless signal grid which showed the approximate distance of the signals in percentages. Anyone know what may have caused this? I have been shutting off some extraneous processes, but would that cause an icon to totally vanish from the control panel?
