Power manager - get display back??
Power manager - get display back??
When I have "turn off display" set when on battery, I am finding I can not get the display to return without going to standby and out of standby.
Anyone else seeing this? Anyone have a fix?
thanks all
Andrew

Monitor off by power mgt
I have posts here about it, I originally felt it was the video driver, a new post of bios 1.04 seemed to work but its back, I have a case escalated at Lenovo, I turned it off for now so it won't blank the screen in power mgt and rely on the screen saver to do it, that works fine.

I had this same issue on my T60p. After running Software Installer (not software updater) I ended up updating my video package and wireless packages as well as the BIOS. After all of this I haven't seen the issue crop up, but I had logged a call with L2 support. He ordered a duplicate model and has not been able to recreate the problem...so no resolution yet.
T'Pad 600e, 770x, A20p, A21p, A30p, A31p (2653-H3U), T43p (2668-Q2U) & T60p (2623-DDU)...it's an addiction.
Strange Video driver version issue
I don't know if this has anything to do with your issue, but i just updated both System Updater and Software Installer.
Software Installer updated itself and then said all drivers were current.
System Updater updated itself and then proceeded to d'load an update for the ATI v5200 and and update for migration assistant.
I didn't accept either update, but here's the odd thing.
It downloads Version 8.204-051220a1-029804C-Lenovo and wants to replace Version 8.204-051220a1-031127C-Lenovo with it.
Isn't 031127C a higher rev than 029804C?
Since installing the Version 8.204-051220a1-031127C software I've not had any issues. KOW.
YMMV. If you're already at this package rev then this is obviously not the issue for you, but I thought it worth mentioning.

Monitor off by power mgt
Best as I can figure they decided on the original shipment to use bios at the time of 1.02 and the ...29804c version. However they left the 31127c version in c:\ibmtools\drivers\video. Software installer on the 2nd screen checks your hard disk for newer drivers and installs it. Software updater does not check your drive, but since the 029804c version is the only one on the web it wants to install that. I think by mistake they left a driver on the system they did not want to use.
Just received a system this week and it came preloaded with 1.04 bios and the 31127c version of the driver. Initial tests of that the monitor does turn off and back on properly. I have then installed that version on my original T60p and have good results so far. I only say so far because I thought the issue was resolved with bios but it came back. I have also the case elevated with Lenovo will post updates..

So this problem has reared its head again on my T60p with the most up to date versions of everything running. It seems that Lenovo doesn't want to acknowledge that there are issues with the Power Manager software on this model yet. It seems that if support can't replicate it then it's not a problem.
Fn + Spacebar still brings it back, but no other keystoke or mouse movement/buttons have any effect. I don't have to Suspend/Resume at this point, but it got to that state the last time around.
If you uninstall their advanced PM and stick with the basic Control Panel version it seems to have an effect, but then you lose some control over the PM/System interface.
Any suggestions other than the default "live with it until it's fixed"?

Me too! Same problem.
I too am having this problem; along with the problem where my T60 turns completely off when plugging it back into the Advanced Mini Dock that I have; but only sometimes, usually only if I do a cold boot undocked before redocking or if it's been undocked for a few hours. IBM even sent me a new dock to try. Both problems are still occuring.
To solve the screen turn off problem, I programmed Fn-F7 via Presentation Director to always display the native resolution which also solves the problem.
The interesting thing I've notived about this problem is that when my PC is in 1400x1050 (or whatever it is) and goes blank and then I push Fn-F7 the screen comes back on but appears it was at 800x600 resolution as that's what all my open windows are resized to. Very strange indeed.
I also find this problem does NOT occur if I cold boot the computer undocked. It only seems to happen if it was docked at some point after booting and is later undocked.
