The t60p COMES with the 9 cell. Last 5+ hours

2007-83U here (T60p, 2.16GHz, 2G RAM, brightness 6, no BT, wireless on, adaptive CPU resting at 1GHz, fan on Balance, stock video drivers, powerplay on) and I get 4 hours exactly off a full charge with very little system activity (19W drain).

This would probably be better if I could reliably blank my screen when not in use (I can't) but this is also a "resting" time estimate. Gains from blanking the screen would be offset by bursts of system activity, so 4 hours is probably what you should count on.

The tabook says "up to 5.4 hours" but that assumes low screen brightness. At the lowest LCD brightness before off, my machine is drawing 15W and should run for just over 5 hours at that brightness.

You see the price drop on your model today?
from 3379. down to 2499.
(I have the t60p 2007-84u) --same as yours but with Sierra Card. Happy with machine, but wish we had firewire and better battery life. Was really looking for 6-9 hours.

Does your usage pattern really need 6--9 hours of battery life? I mean, is it such that you will be away from a power connection for such duration?

I was getting more along the lines of ~3--~5 (with a 6/9 cell), and was very pleased.

stephenaron, I paid less but not by much. Wow that is an impressive price drop. I imagine quite a few folks will be calling CS for a price match over the next few days. :)

stephenaron, I've been disappointed as well. My T42p 2GHz gave me 6-8 hours reliably (depending on screen brightness). My T60p has 10% more battery and the CPU is supposed to draw even less power. I guess it's the V5200 that screws things up -- the T60 (non -p) models have a battery life of "up to 9.0 hours" on a 9-cell as opposed to the "up to 5.4 hours" shown on the -p models. What a huge hit!!

**QUESTION EXTENSION**

How Long does the 9-cell battery last on a 15" FireGL T60p and/vs the 9-cell 15" Radeon T60?

Also, is one (graphics) better than the other for average/mild gaming? Basically, is there a reason why i'd want the FireGL model if i weren't doing CAD or Vlsi layouts
(i'm ignoring the fact that only the FireGl model supports 1600x200)

Whichever i got, i'd get a 100GB hard disk, dvdr, core duo 2500 or 2600, and upgrade to 2GB of memory.

If the T60p is guaranteed over 3 hours, i'm probably sold regardless, but i dont want to trade useful hours for unused overkill graphics. I'd probably play games only rarely, like Generals, WoW, Q3a, Warcraft 3 ...probably all fine i'm assuming for a radeon. ...i am disappointed by the removal of s-video. has anyone found out yet whether the radeon/firegl can output in ntsc for one of those vga-to-s-video cables? you can find the cables on ebay, but those not really the issue.

Thank you so much. I just want the actual time from user instead what tabook says. Can someone post some pic of the t60p w/ 14in screen plz. All the pics i found so far look like the 15in.

Is it easy to return TP back to lenovo? the x60s is a little too small for my need.
