Upgrading t43p to t60p

Please tell me if I am crazy or not but I am thinking of upgrading my t43p 2.26ghz with 1.5gb ram for a 200794u.

Is there much difference between the machines? Will I notice a difference. For anyone that has made this move, tell me if you are happy with the move. It is hard spending 3000 less then a year ago and doing it again but when you want the new toys...

Thanks

Jim

I did a similar move, the only reason for my upgrade was the dual processor. If you tend to run cpu intensive applicaitons or have multiple applications running at the same time, its worth the money. Having two jobs running it at the same time and see the cpu meter hit 100% on both cores was worth every single penny.

t43p vs. t60p

I dont run a lot of cpu intensive programs but do get frustrated at times when the cpu gets close to 100%

What about waiting for Meron in September? This is a 4mb l2 cache with higher speeds and is 64-bit? Any thoughts on this?

I think it's too soon for a full upgrade. I'd rather save my money for the next generation.

I agree. I'd save my money for a bigger step-up later on.

Agreed. It's just too early to upgrade. The T43Ps are vista compatible, so no need to upgrade unless you need something that the T60 has ONLY got to offer.

Well I have a T41p, T60p seems like a very big upgrade to me, especially considering the Gfx chip which is my main concern and that doesn't appear to be changing any time in the near future, even with T61p.

I just bought my T43, so I won't upgrade to T60. However, I know that T60 is a wonderful machine for its performance. But I doubt if the Duo Core could make such high level performance. I'm looking forward to next generation, like 64bit.
