Docking issues w/ LCD display NOT just intermittent flickers

Hi,
I just bought the advance mini dock and am having problems when docking. When I dock my T60 and try to dual screen with an external LCD, sometime my primiary LCD would "streak". I am not sure what is the best way to describe this..."streak"- means lots of vertical lines flickering down the display. Almost like if some one took a paint brush and streak across the LCD vertically. Now I say this occur may be a little bit over 50% of the time when i dock. Even when it dosn't have this streaking, I still have that intermittent flickering problem mentioned in previous threads and from the support site.
Just to be specific, I have the T60 2323 D3U, and the external monitor is a dell 20.1 widescreen flat pannel.
Things that I have tried:
Without mini-dock, vga out dual screen worked fine.
With mini-dock, "streaking" occurs not just with dvi, but also vga.
--- tried docking when everything is powered off, but even then sometime this streaking still shows up.
--- Dock and re-dock several times, may be restart untill streaking is gone.
--- "detach" external monitior (not physically) and streaking goes away. But when "attached" again, streaking comes back.
--- most recent thing that i did that got rid of the streaking: closing the thinkpad, i.e. switching the primary to external and re-open the thinkpad, and re-attach external.
There are several other comnbination of things i did... I was just wondering when you guys dock, does it latch easily? I mean is there a mechancial lock, such that the thinkpad is fixed? Because when i dock, if i don't push down hard, i can lift my thinkpad and it comes off quite easily without using the eject switch on the dock.
Sorry for such a long post. Hope everyone have the patient to read it through.

On another note should we be able to dock and undock when the system is "hot"? My friend does it all the time with his T43p so I assume this is the same for the T60?
