RAM - CAS Latency Question

Hi,
I have a new T60 on order. Should arrive next week sometime hopefully.
Anyways, I was wondering is there any significant difference between RAM that has CL 4 vs CL 5?
Which one should I go for?
Thanks

the lower the better. are you replacing both sticks or just adding 1 stick to go w/ your current one? if you're replacing both sticks, go w/ cas4 as it is faster, but if you are just adding 1 additional stick (to go w/ the one already in there), I would find out what the current stick is (probably cas5), and just get the same so they can do dual channel (though if you get a cas4 and its cas5 in there...i assume it should still work in dual channel)

thanks for your reply jaybert.
I have ordered a 1gb CL 4 stick right now. Will add another stick somewhere down the road though.
So I shouldn't expect any problems if in case they are mismatched (1 stick w/ CL 4 and the other CL 5), right??

Where are you seeing CL4 PC2-5300 RAM? I haven't looked around too much, but what I have seen is all CL5.

I just found CL4 RAM at NewEgg made by G.Skill:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820231129
how much better would this perform? it seems strange that G.Skill is the only manufacturer.

If you're referring to the PC2-4200 sticks, don't use it. It's slower than the PC2-5300 modules, even though the former has a CL of 4 vs. 5. Stick with CL5 PC2-5300.
