software on T60 - what did you uninstall?

What are some of the programs that came with the T60
that folks have been uninstalling?
So far I have only uninstalled Google Desktop since I
have no use for it.
I am thinking of uninstalling Norton Internet Security
and installing NAV 2006 instead since I think the updates
will be cheaper (being an antivirus-only package) and
that is all that I have felt the need for in the past.
Are there any other programs that I should remove?
Can the recovery disks be created at any time, i.e. even
after installing tons of other stuff? I have not yet created
the recovery disks for my computer and was wondering
whether they would automatically include all of the
programs that I had installed or whether they just
include the default image.
Anoop
what to uninstall etc

Hi
I de-installed google search and symantec products because the internet security is only a 30 day demo. I installed our corp sav. You could also remove diskeeper lite if you want to, basically i go thru the add/remove prg list and see what i don't want, it really depends on you.
about the r&r disks, they only include the lenovo pre-build so if you restored that you'd get what you got when you first booted including the google search etc. if you don't have that you could also do the F11 to restore provided the disk is in good working order.
Best at some point to build at least 1 set of recovery cd's per all your t60's if you work in an IT shop, and if not definately do it.

I deinstalled all of the Norton/Symantec and Google software.
Norton antivirus was replaced by NOD32 & Windows Defender. Picassa was replaced by IrfanView.

Quite a few people in this forum just formatted the disk and started from scratch. It's a big time commitment though. I wouldn't want to do it again for at least a few years.

I did that too but ended up going back to the factory load minus the apps listed above. I found that by the time I added back the apps I wanted there wasn't much of a performance difference.

Items removed:
Google Desktop
Symantec Antivirus and Client Security
I also installed Acronis Disk Director and Workstation Image 9.1 to image the machine prior to installing any additional applications. I created a separate partition and installed all application software on it to minimize backup and restore times. I did a rescue and recovery with ThinkPad’s RnR for grins and giggles and the procedure ran more than an hour to complete.
I also created ThinkPad’s rendition of Rescue and restore media prior to installing Acronis and deleting IBM's hidden partition. This provides me with installation media of the OS and system drivers that would've normally shipped out with the machine. Lenovo also allows you to purchase this CD but why when you can create you own.
I essentially followed the lead of a post that was done by Dorin and agree with his position on the matter. Check out the thread:
