USB port low speed issue?

Hi there, I noticed that the usb ports on my T60 may only work at 1.1 speed instead of 2.0 speed. I tried to use my external harddrive to transfer some stuff between my desktop and laptop, between desktop and ext. hd only took less than 10 mins, but between laptop and ext. hd took more than one hour. Any one has experienced similiar issue?
Also I found the left handed USB port is not very secure, you can move it up and down a little bit, my understanding is that it's soldered onto the motherboard, I am afraid this may eventually result in a motherboard replacement, will that be covered under warranty?
