With the 30 day guarantee, I can only imagine how many ThinkPads Lenovo gets back...
But I don't see them having an outlet like Dell has for these returned systems...
What happens to these systems? I can't imagine what Lenovo could do with them, other than try and refurbish them for resale or take the used parts and put them in another system.
I'm especially concerned because of how backordered Lenovo is right now with the sales. I don't want to get a refurbished system or one with refurbed parts.
Anyone know?
What happens to returned ThinkPads? I don't want a refurb...

Offerings change almost daily.

This question seems to come up every few weeks around here, but the answer hasn't changed: IBM/Lenovo won't sell you someone else's return as new.
These machines, though usually in as-new condition, are most often released as certified used and/or refurbs. Fiscally, it makes sense, as the price hit the company might otherwise take in reselling the machine is offset somewhat by the fact that these machines do not retain their original 1/3 year extended warranty coverages.
