This is the T60p model I also am considering.

On a related note, I have a question -- if you take advantage of a sale like this and configure a computer, then save it as a quote, Lenovo sends you an e-mail confirmation for the quote which I think it good for 30 days. Does the quote expire when the special expires, or do they honor it for the 30 days. If they do that would be one way to lock in the sale price if you're not ready to commit to the purchase. As good a price as it is, $2,199 is still a lot of money, and you have to add the extras you mentioned.

Now back to your question as to the sale price of the 2623DDU T60p for $2,199 until May 15 :

I've been following the pricing on the T60's since they came out and this top line model (2623DDU) actually initially was priced at $2,999 (with 5% discount available to the general public when purchasing with a credit card). Several weeks later the list price was reduced to $2,749 (a $250 price drop), but with a 20% discount -- available both on the Mastercard, etc sites (available to the general public), as well as on the Lenovo anniversary sale, also available to the general public.

Lenovo periodically offers such discounts ; again referring the the discounts available to the general public, they vary from 5% to 20% depending on the model.

This 2623DDU T60p model is one of the top-of-the-line units, and my personal opinion on this -- judging from what Lenovo has done in the past -- is that this is a great deal that you are not likely to get any time soon once the special promotion expires. Right now this top end model costs substantially less than a number of the lesser ones.

I too am seriously considering taking advantage of this deal. As I posed in a nearby post, I'm still mulling over the "fan issue".

I'm basically very happy with my T42 (15" Flexview SXGA+) except I'm sorry that I didn't buy the T42p (it was a few hundred dollars more and I mistakenly thought the SXGA screen would be optimal for me.) But I really miss the UXGA screen that I had on my prior Dell computer (the Dell screen from several years ago was pre-Flexview and is less bright and with limited viewing angles but I do miss the UXGA resolution) and I really want a Flexview UXGA screen, which of course comes with the unit we're discussing.

One final note : It is disappointing and frustrating that Lenovo does not allow the kind of customization that you can get from Dell and some other manufacturers; the only reason I need the T60p is for the Flexview UXGA screen I want -- I don't need the 256 MB graphics card, 128 MB would be fine, I don't need the 2 GHZ processor, the 5,400 RPM 100 GB hard drive would be OK for me (don't need 7,200), don't need the integrated Verizon wireless card, etc. But I have to get all of this to get the screen I want.

Still when you consider the specs on this sale model, you really can't get a similarly configured machine elsewhere (Dell, HP, etc) for this price, and it's a Thinkpad ! So in summary -- yes it's a good deal, and if you want and can afford it, you should get it.

I'd appreciate others comments on any of this.

Thanks.

Well, for one, it doesn't look like they are having them on sale because there is a surplus of stock. Traditionally, delivery of T60p (particularly this model) has been slow, though it seems to be improving (have a look at my most recent post in the shipping thread).

That said, the "TopSeller" models are already cheaper than the 'regular' models (2007-##U model designation), so a sale on top of the already cheap price is an absolute steal.

Just buy it.

I second that. Just buy it...

I'm one of the one's who couldn't wait and bought my T60p in Feb. and paid $2999 for it (you forgot the $150 rebate, too)...and I've got no regrets (except maybe that I did NOT reinstall XP). :D

I will say, however, that they coulda waited another couple of months before selling my exact model for $800 off!

I'm ok though...really.

Just order one, they have slow shipping time so you can cancel it if you don't want it later. That's what i did.
