Crucial? Some 'Lenovo' brand? I want to match it, but not on lenovo's checkout. Talking about T60 2623D6U... Buy.com sells this one: http://www.buy.com/prod/1GB_DDR2_667MHZ ... 75044.html, but I am suspicious if it is a match to the original since it is *so* cheap.
Also: is it true that having two symmetric (or identical) DDR2 RAMs delivers a noticeable boost in the memory speed?
What memory chip does Lenovo use?

i dont know about *noticeable*, but there is a difference, whether you will notice it is debatable. If you do things that are memory intensive like photoshop, you probably will.bessel wrote:Crucial? And I dont think there is a set brand that the T60's use. Most likely that brand you listed, its not even the same for each of their memory sticks. They probably have multiple suppliers of the memory chips, so if you buy one this month, and one the next, you could conceivably get 2 different brands. That is why companies offer packages with 2 matched sticks at a premium, guarenteed to be matching and work in dual channel mode.
Your safest bet would be to sell your stick on the T60, and buy 2 more sticks that are guarenteed to match

My T60 came with 512 mb of samsung memory. From what I've gathered, as long as you get memory with the same specifications, as in PC2-5300 with the same CAS latency timings (I think most default to 5-5-5-5 or osmething like that) as well as the same memory size you should be able to match different brands together in dual-channel mode. I upgraded to a corsair module with the samsung already in there and I have no problems. But to be honest I don't know if it is actually running in dual channel.... From what I've read, dual channel only improves performance by 10-15% anyway rather than double the speed improvement you would expect. So if you do buy something that doesn't allow dual channel it's not THAT big of a deal.
