Firewire in the T60?

Hi I was hoping someone had a quick answer for this.

I'm looking to buy a new laptop after years of suffering with my Compaq Presario. I'm thinking of getting a t60. My problem is that new laptop needs to have a firewire port, that needs to work very reliably.

Is it possible to add firewire to the t60 using the PCMCIA slot? Has anyone had any problems doing this?

(fully aware of the newbiness of the question)

thank you

I'm using a LaCie FireWire 800 card in my T60p and it works great. HDTach reports an average read speed of 61.1MB/sec reading from a LaCie external drive.

I wish IBM/Lenovo had left the PCMCIA slots on the Advanced Dock... T60 users have a max of only one PCMCIA slot to work with. T4x users can have a total of four slots with, including the two on the Dock II.

I don't have a PCI-Express FireWire card to test in the dock, but I'm sure that would work fine as well.

If someone has a known good working Firewire card for the Advanced Dock I would like to know about it.

I have only found two FW800 PCIE card manufacturers so far. I bought one, and it did not work at all (couldn't boot).

If you know of a FW800 PCIE card that has been tested to work, please post.
