How long does it take for Lenovo to ship

Hi Everyone
My company is trying to switch companies from Dell to IBM/Lenovo, however, we need the systems in by July 5th and Lenovo will not work with us on giving us 5% liquidation refund if they cannot meet that deadline while Dell has done that and will continue to do that for us.
I was reading that some people have had to wait a long time for their system to come in. For those who just purchased 1 system, how long did it take for you to receive your computer? At this point, is it really worth chancing if we only have 6 weeks and cannot get a guarantee that they will be here when we need them? Thanks for any input you guys have.

6 weeks for personal purchase should be abundant... but volume purchase as in your case might be a totally different story and I am afraid nobody here would have any similiar experience...

depends on the system. look at the sticky above...though some of the reference times are inaccurate, as they seem to be shipping alot faster now than they did a month or two back.

This graph shows how delivery times have changed over time. It has not been updated for a couple weeks, but I aim to post an updated one soon.
As the previous poster said, the rules may be different (not necessarily bad) for bulk/corporate buyers.

Cool, thanks for the info. We are going to order the T60's, about 500, I think. Are there any known issues on this yet, or is it still too early to tell? I know most stuff doesn't really crop up til about 9-12 months after release.

The rules are very different for corporate buyers.
To the OP, do you not have a sales rep assigned to your account, or are you just calling in to the sales line and dealing with whomever answers?

Yes, we have a rep assigned to us. However, they accused us of being a bully when we said we'd go back to dell if they couldn't give us a % money back if the laptops arrived late. We are in an educational setting and need to have computers ready for students a week after they are received, which is why they have to be here at that specific time. We know that we have to order by the end of the week, but we also know that dell will give us that guarantee that the systems will be here, or they will be losing money. Is lenovo not that confident in their manufacturing plants or what? I'm sure they can get them here on time, but what if they don't, then we are screwed and so are the students.

This has _not_ been my experience recently. I own a corp with _96 ThinkPads_ deployed. I'm used to the world class service provided by IBM. We have been an IBM customer for 10 years. Recently when I received a quote from my Lenovo rep for 45 machines, they could not assure me of (any) resonable delivery date. 3-4 being wks the estimate, and they were very vague on this. They do not seem to have any sense of urgency or timeliness, and the communication from them is unacceptable.
As much as I like ThinkPads, I'm very disappointed with this situation. I have even escalated this to a superior and the result was no different!
I prefer to buy direct, however I have begun using a reseller who can & does deliver in a professional manner.
