Questions on IWS and Thinkpad Protection(TP)

Being a first time thinkpad user, I have some questions regarding IWS and TP.
What does IWS usually cover? let's say if the dvd burner fails to burn/read properly, can I get a replacement under warranty?
Also, has anyone got the thinkpad protection(TP)? My understanding is that it covers any kind of human damage just like the dell completecare, is that right?
I am deciding if it's worthwhile to spend another 120US on TP to get a peace of mind, since I am not a very careful person.
Any input will be appreciated. Thank you.

A bit OT: Anyone knows whether it will be available outside of the US as well ? The Dell completecare already is.
