Is it possible to swap the Function (Fn) and Control keys? If so, how?

From what I have read over the months on this forum, the Fn key cannot be remapped.

The Fn key is slightly different as it has some functions hardwired into it, the wake-from-suspend interrupt being one of them and it is also a key modifier that is recognized by the BIOS; hence, the ThinkLight and just about all the other "Blue" FN key combos work across OSes such as Windows and Linux. The Ctrl key cannot do any of those things, at least not without severe modification, and you would thereby lose the functionality of the Fn key.

HTH :)

I don't really care about the Function key very much. I just want the Control key in the lower-left corner (I'm a vi user and [censored] proud of it). Is there any way to get the Control key to take the place of the Function key then?

You can't swap out the Fn key for another key because the Fn key has the aforementioned hardware functionality associated with it; you could try mapping it to Ctrl as well but that would give you a redundant key set and might cause problems. I know what you mean by being a hardcore vi user (The editor of the Beast! )
