Unknown device after fresh install

#1 Post by viper11885 » Thu May 18, 2006 8:50 pm

I just did a fresh install of XP.

I think I installed everything, but device manager still lists one unknown device, perhaps related to the USB controller.

Anybody know how to fix this?

The BIOS is the latest version.

Thanks...

Could also be sound card or modem - make sure those are properly recognized.

Thanks for your replies...

I'll try out that software installer...

It isn't the sound card or modem. Both are installed without any problems.

Just ran the System Update program.

It listed the Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver as needing to be updated. I had previously updated it manually..

Anyways, I let the System Update install the Intel Matrix Storage Manager again. After a reboot and checking my list of updates, it is still listed as needing to be updated.

Any idea on what is going on? I have the Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver installed already but it is not being properly recognized.
