Incredibly loud system alert sounds

Is there a way to lower the volume of the low battery alarm & wake up from sleep sound? The sound is so loud sometimes I jump out of my seat especially when I have a lower level of music running the background.

So I have done that - go into Control Panels -> Power Options and unclick alerts.

The problem lies elsewhere.
