Docking problems w. Advanced mini-dock

I have a T60 (2007-63U) and Advanced mini-dock (so I can use DVI to drive an external monitor) and wonder if anyone else is experiencing the same problem I am...
With the T60 (Windows XP SP2) in suspend, you're supposed to be able to dock and then resume. Sometimes this works, but most of the time when I press the power button on the dock the machine restarts cold.
Anyone else doing this successfully?

Similar problem, only that it never works, I always get a bluescreen. I think I will call IBM.

Haven't tried docking while suspended, but I regularly dock with the machine already on, and no problems. Though it sometimes takes a while (i.e., several seconds) to switch to extended desktop mode.
docking station issues

i have a post about this already. i have been in constant contact with extended support and they state that the issue is going to be fixed in a new bios release. it should be out shortly. Also there is a new video driver on the way which will fix the monitor blanking issue where the video doesn't come back.

I know there are other threads on this topic, but I'm going to jump in with a "me too". I use my mini-dock to extend my desktop to a 20" flat-panel. More than half the time when I open the lid after docking, whether from suspend or hibernate mode, I get the blue screen complaining about the ATI driver in an endless loop.
This is getting old. I haven't called IBM/Lenovo yet but am wondering if should. johnp126, please keep us posted on what support says.

John, if this is true you are my hero! Thanks for the update and keep us posted. I am plagued by both of these problems!

power down when redocking

Did anyone find or get a fix for the issue of this thread?
I have a T60 and the advanced docking station. Often, when I try to redock my T60 (either powered on or resumed), the laptop will completely power off and it has to be rebooted fresh.
I have downloaded all the critical and recommended updates as well as the latest BIOS (v1.07). Nothing seems to fix this problem ;-(

tschabo,
I had this problem for a while - power down when docking - but the BIOS upgrade 1.04 to 1.06 seems to have fixed it.
(Btw, I always undock/redock in standby mode.)
BIOS did not fix it for me

that's so weird. I had those problems using BIOS 1.06 and even with the new 1.07.
I just recently got used to undock and dock with the computer suspended before and the power down scenario has not happened so far. However, the first time I docked, the screen would be completely black and I wasn't able to hibernate or suspend. Hence, I had to do power it down by keeping the power button pressed

I experience this problem *STILL* with BIOS 1.06. I firmly believe that it is a hardware problem and that no BIOS will solve it. Lenovo still claims they've never heard of this problem.

The same problem happens with my T42. Less than 5% of the time it won't come out of standby when I dock.
You just have to think of standby as a 95% solution. Don't standby while you have any important apps loaded. Then, you won't mind having to shutdown & reboot about once a month.

I never use the power button to bring my machine out of standby. I need the lid to be up at about a 20 to 30 degree angle for the wireless reception to be optimal and to use the fingerprint reader. I dock it in standby, open the lid (still below the horizon of my d'top flat panel) and the machine comes back no problem.
It can't be removed (afaik) by going to standby and ejecting without going through the undock sequence first.
I haven't seen this power down problem in my usage pattern as yet.

I have a z60m that uses the same advanced mini-dock. Here is the thread I started and I just posted another reply. Looks to be similar problem. You may try my suggested steps to see what level of success you find (before Lenovo fixes it for good).

My laptop just powered down after docking it in the suspend mode. Hence, that approach does not work without reliably
I will try the approach you suggested above.
Can anyone provide me with the IBM support phone number? I don't want to go through the online thing before getting the number...
