Vista Beta 2 on T60p

#1 Post by hdahl » Thu May 25, 2006 3:53 am

Hello!

Do some of you know if I after I've been installing Vista Beta 2 on my T60p still may use the ThinkVantage button to get to the feature for bringing back the machine to factory installation, running Windows XP?

Probably not, i've never installed it over a preload but even if you don't wipe the partition, Vista will probably overwrite the MBR. There is a tool included on the os called bmgr/bmgr32 to sort this out but it is a pain and not fully reliable.

What I would suggest is to make a set of Recovery CDs/DVDs from the Start>ThinkVantage menu which will restore the preload and the recovery partition when you are done with Vista.

I've installed Vista Beta 2, and can confirm that ThinkVantage button doesn't really work :)

I did what snife suggest to do, and when I will have enough of Vista I will just restore from CD/DVD recovery set
