I was beginning to wonder if it was just me.

Here is my current set of problems, hopefully someone can help.

1) When I push the power button the computer comes on. I believe in tech terms they call that booting up (or some such).
2) Everytime I use the keyboard the keys move & characters appear on the screen.
3) Periodically when writing a report in Word, I choose to "save" or "save as" and for some strange reason this causes hard disk activity.
4) When compiling some code, all sorts of strange things wizz across the screen.
5) After finishing my work and shutting down I hear a click when closing the display, and I notice movement of that little button on the front edge of the lid.
6) ...... well the list goes on and on....

Interestingly every ThinkPad I have, has these exactly same "problems".

Finally, after I've finished doing my work _I get this odd sensation_ as though I've actually accomplished something.

I'm looking for input from those of you with more expertise is these areas.

Hope they don't move my post to "off topic" as I was compelled to go on record here, so as to offset the whining currently overloading a certain topic here.

archer6 I know how you feel. My thinkpad does many odd things as well. I think they could be related to the IQ of the user. Myself being of superior intellect am more than qualified to deal with Thinkpad idiosyncrasies. For instance, I've noticed there are far more keyboard buttons than I actually need. I can make it do everything with just three buttons.

Something else interesting that you may want to be careful of. While adjusting my very wobbly 9 cell battery and perparing to add battery acid, I inadvertently closed the display on my arm and had to gnaw my are off just below the elbow. Go thing I can work the trusty TP with just three keys.

Yikes! As you can see from my cruddy spelling in my post above, I may resort to using more of the buttons on my TP.

Whew! That makes me feel so much better and not quite so confused. As now I know that I can rely on your surperior intellect to provide me with the guidance I need, instead of my being embassed around the office because I don't have a clue. Frankly I must admit, (sheepishly) that I do no even know where to begin, trying to figure out what these keys are for. The sheer number alone with all the different sizes and colors is somewhat intimidating.

Jeez..... I'm in such good company here. And get this, regarding the battery issue I just may be a slight bit more advanced than you. Or not. Once I removed the battery from the computer I found the filler cap, removed it and filled it with the same electrolyte that I use in my classic Porsche. Worked perfectly, and thanks to you, I remembered to be careful and not close the display on my arm. This was especially beneficial, as I need my left arm to steer while my right arm is busy shifting.

Thanks for keeping me up to speed in these areas, and especially the safety warnings!

You know, I think I will start a class action lawsuit here; I can't believe this...They forgot the sticker that says "Do not use while bathing." (See; http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/04/21/asa_creative/ as a precendence)

I am shocked and hurt that they did not put such a label on; furthermore, I do not believe they have done acoustics tests either on the fan noise underwater in the ocean. What if a documentary SCUBA team wanted to use it whilst not scaring away the fish with the fan noise? I demand this be rectified and a year long study be performed on the cavtiational disturbance a Thinkpad's fan makes when submerged. It isn't right to put people's hearing in jeporady underwater simply because they had not had enough foresight to do such tests on such an obvious application.

This is pending further investigation into whether or not the WiFi and/or WWAN could interfere with the navigational abilities of whales and lead the young ones to beach themselves or slam into ships and subs head on.
