I got an error in the Hardware Manager: PNP Bios Extension :
"the driver for this hardware could not be init. code 37"
driver to refresh is not working.
any1 knows what kind of driver is needed.
i guess that is the problem why i cant update my bios...

The driver returned failure from its DriverEntry routine.
Uninstall the driver, and then click Scan for hardware changes to reinstall or upgrade the driver.
On the General Properties tab of the device, click Troubleshoot to start the Troubleshooting Wizard.
have you gone into your BIOS to be sure the PnP setting is correct? Also, have you tried the event viewer to find out what warnings/errors are posted?

Funny, I uninstalled the driver scanned for new, but it is not finding anymore !!
have you the pnp bios extension on your t60 ? or was it just a unenneccessary driver from my t42 image(what i did over the t60)
i looked through bios everything seems fine
no warning/errors are in the event viewer

meditate, glad to hear it is working, but seriously, you could avoid a lot of these issues if you just bit the bullet and did a full reinstall of XP. There is very little in common between the T42 and the T60 from the driver/HAL perspective, and incorrect installation of drivers is the #1 reason for people having random problems with their machine -- is it really worth the on-going pain and effort?
Would you take an XP image from a Dell Inspiron and put it on a Lenovo Thinkpad just so you can 'save some time re-configuring'? Save what time?

astro, I wish I could, but i am making music with this partition and i am in the middle of completing new tracks and a new cd. i have *A LOT* programs installed(every plugin has to be installed on his own) and this is always a weird and complex thing to get every plugin gets working with the hosts programs without complications. also it is a lot of work. way more than trying to fix the small problems.
also i can share my experiences here so that the next user know how this is working...
and right now everything is working fine except bios update and activating the second cpu. bios extension is, i guess solved.
do you have this in your hardware manager ?

If you're in the middle of something... Can't you use your T42?
I'm not sure what you're talking about with the "PNP BIOS Extension" but I don't see anything like this in Device Manager.
