Couldn't fix the palmrest after expanding memory

#1 Post by Zonky » Tue May 30, 2006 2:13 pm

Hi,

my problems sound like some other problems discussed here but there is one difference.

Today I expanded the memory on my 14" T60. Hence I have loosen the palmrest in order to put the memory in its socket.
After this action I wanted to fix the palmrest with the screws I removed before. But two of the screws simply were too short as they could be fixed onto the case.
I have no idea how Lenovo has fixed this screws in this notebook.

Are there any other problems like mine? Or is there any possible solution?

Greetings,
Marcel

for me, on my T60p, 15 inch, all the palmrest screws are the same length..

it IS a bit trickier than the old way with the panel on the bottom, but most sophisticated computer users should have little difficulty..

reseating the palmrest needs care..
the right side needs to be paid particular attention to..

when i do it i replace the screws near the touchpad, first..
and sometimes i hold the palmrest in place while i catch the first screws threads and then gently tighten it..
then i close the top and finish with the final three screws..

remember, these are small screws and do not require much in the way of torque to tighten them sufficiently..

Thank you fo your help. But, I know exactly, that the palmrest is on exact that position it should be.
The Screws are matching to the screw threads. There isn't any way to fix it that better that is necessary to tighten the screws.

I know, it sounds curious, but I'm relatively experienced in notebook hardware but that's too strange.
