... after Bootvis.exe apparently destroyed the OS' ability to control SpeedStep features and read the current processor speed. Everything went swimmingly, and I am impressed in general with the ThinkVantage features.

I'm just having one annoying problem now, but it is very annoying. Every few minutes on wireless, the wireless device becomes disabled. Anyone know what might cause this? I read on another board that some people have trouble with Access Connections and just uninstall it, but I don't want to do that without cause.

Yeah- I had this problem. Somewhere in the Access Connections program is an option to only connect when there is good signal. Something like that. Check the Access Connections preferences. It's a horrible app for having that feature on by default.

I took a quick look through all the preferences in Access Connections 4.12 and find no such setting. I have been using Access Connections since 2.70 and cannot recall such a setting. Where do you see that setting?

Since Access Connections works reliably for me on a daily basis and has done for some years now, it is pretty hard to call it a horrible application. ... JDH

I couldn't find that setting either. Regardless, I've got things working by just using the Windows wireless management features, although I did not uninstall Access Connections. Thanks to both of you for responding. Time to take a backup image!

I solved this by using the Software installer to re-install the wireless drivers. It didn't go off after that. I've never actually tried Access Connections as I'm so far pretty satisfied with how the Windows wireless management thing works so far.
