I 'm thinking of moving from my T40p to the new T60p.
One thing that holds me back is whether the build quality has
been compromized. If you used to own a T4x and moved
to T60 please respond!
I've read various posts in this forum and have concluded up to
now two spots of concern :
(1) fan noise problems
(2) scratch noises on the palm rest.
Regarding (2), I cannot recall when did it stop making that noise.
The thing is that after using it extensivly the noise just stopped.
No tricks done, just ordinary every day use.
Regarding (1), for T40p it was not a real issue, however from time to time it was kind of irritating hearing the sound of the fan in an otherwise silent room. What I observed is that from the time
I moved to Fedora Core 4 (Red Hat operating system), it struck me
how less frequently I was hearing that annoying sound. So, in
my opinion it's definitely something wrong with my software on
windows. No hardware problems.
BUT! I did spot a MAJOR design issue, that has allready been
mentioned by others... Crashes on games!
The ATI Radeon mobility, when playing 3D games for long (>1h)
caused the system to crash.
That happened repeatetly on hot summer days, when I was working as a receptionist in a really hot place (30C ++) south of crete (Greece). The problem was solved by placing a small metal
box filled with ice under the laptop while playing! Crashes simply
stopped for hours of gaming!
Despite that, I never really cared about games -except
that period of my life-.
Now, T40p has an extremely good build quality. I never pay
much attention to were I'm taking it and inside what bag I'm
putting it.
And although it has suffered 4 years of rough usage, it still
looks pretty "young".
I was wondering, whether I'll get the same experience out
of T60p. Does it also have a titanium bottom and magnesium
LCD cover ???
Thank you very much for you time!

PS : Do you know whether the T40 keyboard can be placed
in T60. I don't like much the greek keyboard so I would prefer
to keep the US version.
