the FRU # for the cord for the 90W adapter

Hello all,

could someone take a second and look at the cord going to your 90W adapter and tell me what the FRU part number is.

As I bought my Thinkpad T60 in Europe the plug is obviously European and as I will be moving back to Canada in a month I need a North American plug for my adapter ... BUT IBM says I have to buy a whole new adapter ... I mean, what happens if someone's dog eats the cord besides of course the obvious for the poor dog...

perhaps if I have the correct part number I can order one

Get a Kensington mini adapter. Its probably cheaper, smaller and you can use it everywhere.

What makes you think that Kensington has a power tip that works with the T60/X60 models? I can't find them listed by Kensington. And they say that they don't have a compatible tip for Z60m or Z60t.

Does the AC cord where it attaches to the adapter look like a standard two wire shaver cord plug? If so you should be able to fine the cord at a hardware store. I frequently use a longer cord with my AC-Adapters that I picked up somewhere without any problems.

I will try that if I cannot find the part number ... I was hoping to have it ready to go when I get back as I will not have much time (no time actually) for a month or two ...

I do not own T60 yet. But I would assume IBM will still use the same power cord for the adapter.

Most adapter (other than G40, G41) uses either 8-shaped or 3 shaped

Check what connection type your adapter uses, then look for something from eBay. I got one around $5.

I just received my T60p. The AC Adapter (90W 20V) has P/N 92P1113

I don't get it. Isn't the adapter the two parts, where one part is just a standard plug that looks like a figure-8? If so, then that part of the cord can be bought for like $5 at any electronics store. You don't need the rest of the adapter bit, since it is dual voltage, etc. etc. which means it will work anywhere in the world.

At the end of it all you're only trying to change the prongs of the plugs, so to speak, so it seems a bit overkill to buy a whole new adapter. Heck, you could even just buy one of those little "converter" or travel adapter devices for < $2.
