Hi all,
Does anyone have a suggestion for getting rid of Rescue & Recovery? I've got the latest Acronis running on my T60p (2623DDU) as my backup solution and I'm really happy with it (and it's pretty quick, not terribly slow like a few reports I read).
Anyways, I looked for Rescue & Recovery in ThinkVantage System Update, Software Installer, and Add/Remove Programs. The closest thing I can find is Rescue & Recovery Client Security Solution - which I'm assuming is the encrypted storage/password stuff that I use to keep my financial stuff in.
I know it lives on my system, and it's running somehow, because it nags me that I missed a backup cycle almost every time that I turn it on.
This is a factory install, I just went through and uninstalled a bunch of stuff instead of doing a clean format - didn't want to be bothered. Seems kinda odd though that R&R wouldn't show up on the ThinkVantage Software Installer, especially since it's a factory image.
Thanks
Uninstall Rescue & Recovery

You already found it!tsservo wrote:Does anyone have a suggestion for getting rid of Rescue & Recovery? Rescue and Recovery User’s Guide wrote:Software installed is...Rescue and Recovery 3.0 and Client Security Solution 6.0
And you want...Client Security Software 5.4x
Follow this process 1. Uninstall the Rescue and Recovery - Client Security Solution application. 2. Install the Client Security Software 5.4x application.

And you want...Client Security Solution 6.0
Follow this process 1. Uninstall the Rescue and Recovery 3.0 program. 2. When prompted, choose to keep current Client Security Solution 6.0 settings only if you want to keep your current security configuration. 3. Install the Client Security Solution 6.0 (Standalone) application.

Oops, sorry for the delay in posting the conclusion... Getting married in a week so I've had other things on my mind.
Anyways, I did uninstall Rescue and Recovery successfully. But not without a few hiccups.
As the only lead I had to uninstalling was the rather unintuitively named Rescue and Recovery Client Security Solution in Add/Remove programs, I decided on that.
On a whim, I decided to remove all my files from the secure area of the drive; I just copied them out and onto my desktop.
Hit uninstall on R&R-CSS in A/R Programs and it went on it's merry way. I kept waiting for it to ask me which portions it wanted me to uninstall, but alas the first thing it asked me to do was to reboot.
On rebooting, anything related to CSS was gone. No fingerprints on login, no secure drive space anymore (I don't know what would have happened to the docs in there, so I'm glad I removed them first).
Fortunatly, R&R was also gone, as far as I could tell.
So I fired up Software Installer to install just CSS. But it wasn't listed in there for some reason. I checked and unchecked the Update from Internet option or whatever that is - no dice. I just downloaded it instead from the matrix and installed it.
After the install finished I had to reconfigure CSS, but it did keep my fingerprints from before. Go figure.
But, as far as I can tell, it's all back and running happily. I copied my files back in the secure drive that I recreated (it asked to overwrite a file, so I said yes - I think that if my files were not copied out first they would have been deleted at that point).
Just to be safe, copy your files out of your secure drive area first.
Have fun.
