Uninstalling Symantec Client Security
Uninstalling Symantec Client Security
I've uninstalled Symantec Client and LiveReg, but when I go to uninstall LiveUpdate it says there are still Symantec products registered with LiveUpdate. As far as I can tell there isn't anything left. Is this a bug, should I just go ahead with removing LiveUpdate? thanks.
Are you sure you don't have Symantec AntiVirus installed still?
If not, there's always the Symantec software removal tool:
ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_u ... SymNRT.exe

Use the removal tool, then get something like CCleaner to scrub the registry of links to the recently un-installed symantec software. That should get rid of all references to it.

Cool thanks. Used the removal tool and it took out LiveUpdate.
With regards to that fan-speed thread in your sig, does it cover the high-pitched whining sound or more the regular flap-flapping fan sound? I don't think I can go through the 15 pages of that thread right now, but started noticing this high-pitched turbine sound which is barely audible but still distracting.
