Question Regarding T60 Radeon X1400 Details

#1 Post by Queen Mary » Wed Jun 14, 2006 5:42 pm

Hello, I am new to this forum. I came here to maybe resolve some issues I am having with my decision to purchase a T60 or not. I am an incoming college freshman, and my school has a contract with IBM/Lenovo, so in certain cases students are required to have either a T43 or T60.

I have a simple question. There is a seperate sub-site for my school's "Notebook Specials" on the Lenovo site. On the site there is one choice for the T60 bundle. It includes 2 ghz Duo Core, 1gb of ram, etc.

It also includes a "Radeon Mobility X1400 128mb". Now, is this card a hypermemory 128mb one(meaning, in my case only 64mb of dedicated) or a 128mb dedicated? I see the main page for T60s on Lenovos website and the only X1400 available for the T60 model on the main site(it appears) is the X1400 Hypermemory. Or am I even reading this all wrong(since it could be a 128mb dedicated card with 256mb hypermemory). Basically, there is no "hypermemory" on my school's bundles T60 details, unlike the main site's.

I have searched these forums over and over but could find no information concerning this question, as it is rather unique. However, I have found other helpful information.

If you need any more information, just ask! Thanks for taking the time to read this!

The X1400 is a dedicated card with 128 megs of dedicated VRAM. On all X1400's you can also expand this with "hypermemory" into the system ram, as you suggested. Hope this helps.

Queen Mary, if your school is anything like mine, then you dont' necessarily have to go for the school's "notebook bundles" in order to receive the lenovo discounts. Go to the upper right side and use the part search bar and type in T60 and you can order any configuration of T60 you like. Don't feel forced into a specific bundle because you can get any computer you want.
