Is there a difference between third party batteries and the IBM batteries? Where do you buy your batteries from? Specifically, I am looking for the Advanced Ultrabay Battery for my T60 and possibly the 9-cell main battery as well.

I didn't even know there were third party betteries for IBM laptops. I bought my batteries from IBM.

There are thrid party VENDORS, but I think all batteries are IBM branded. (If I'm wrong, sorry, but I'm pretty sure I'm not).

You can buy em from anywhere, just search froogle or ebay even.

Back when the T42 was hot people were saying that the SONY batteries were better than the SANYOs. Both are IBM branded, of course, but made by 2 different makers, both supplied from IBM.

There are some third party batteries for the Thinkpads, earliest I have heard of non-IBM batteries being used in the Thinkpads was with the 600 Series. There are some for the Thinkpad T4X Series too...Not so sure about what non-IBM batteries there are for the T60.
