New firmware update for the bluetooth card (T60)

#1 Post by irfan » Sun Jun 18, 2006 1:02 am

There is a new firmware upgrade for the bluetooth card on T60. It is supposed to increase the stability for sends and receives. I applied this firmware upgrade. And it seems that my logitech v270 mouse no longer drops off connection.

I just tried running this, but I do not get any prompts to install the firmware. It just extracts it and then that's it.

I do not use bluetooth yet, but I do have it running. Am I missing something here?

Please advise :)

Thank you!

EDIT: Whoops, solved it... Reading entirely helps. :P

To update the firmware, do following:

Click Start, click Run.
Specify the firmware update software located at C:\Program Files\ThinkPad\Bluetooth Software\bin\BtDfuWizardP.exe
In Welcome to the DFU Wizard for Bluetooth Device window, just click Next button.
In the License Agreement window, read the End User License Agreement carefully, then select I accept the term in the license Agreement, and click Next.
In the DFU Image File window, specify the DFU file that is downloaded and extracted. Then click Next.
In the Ready to Start the DFU window, click Start.
Firmware update will be started automatically.
* If this is the first time updating the firmware, the system will install the device driver for the firmware update automatically.
*Never stop Firmware update process or turn off Bluetooth until the update process is completed.
In the Bluetooth DFU Wizard Completed window, click Finish button to finish updating.

Thanks irfan

I shall be happy if this update stops my BT mouse (Logitech v270) from periodically losing its connection. That'll be one item less on my problem list.
Current: T60p (2007-93G). Previous: T23 (2647-9LG).

Well, I have the same mouse. I was very excited when I got that mouse. I thought, I will pay some money, but I do not have to stick any receiver to the USB port to use a wireless mouse. And this reduces the risk of accidentally damaging the usb. Anyway, to my suprise I got the same periodic disconnection issue as you also experienced. I did the firmware upgrade. And now I experience only some little disconnection problems. It is still not perfect, but the problem reduced to a level at which I am not annoyed.

please let us know whether the firmware update works for you.

i never had to reconnect my mouse (v270) since i installed the firmware upgrade last night. i used to re-detect the mouse at least thrice in a day's work.

For those considering a BT mouse purchase... I've been using a Thermaltake/Bluetake mouse with my T60p without problems. I think the model number is BT500 although it's a couple years old so they may have a newer model now.
