Which wireless is better Thinkpad a/b/g or Inter a/b/g?
I heard there were compatibility probs with my dell m1710 but was wondering what was preferred with the t60?

more stable & stronger signal....!

is that the ibm option or is that an aftermarket upgrade?
Case by case, sometimes you can configure it as customized option, otherwise you can buy it in IBM option.
And agree " More stable & stronger signal".
But more power consumption!

Which is why the Intel wireless is part of the Centrino platform which saves even more power. IF you need more power, you can always throttle the power settings for the card.NJ_IT wrote:Talon88 wrote:

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

no, that is not true. you don't have to use the PCMCIA slot to go IBM. the internal card is relatively easy to change, though you have to remove the keyboard (which you'd have to do to add or change RAM anyway). the item you want is part 40Y7026.codek wrote:I just ordered a t60p through amex and the rep says that if I want to go ibm, I have to go with the pcmia lot card. If that true?
before you go to the hassle, I would take the T60p as is, try the included Intel adapter, and if the signal is too weak, then order the IBM adapter (made by Atheros). just my $.02.

hoya, no I have always configured it myself or used windows ,because i jump from one customers network to the next, this has worked great on my other machines, but I'll definately give AC a try and see what happens.
As a side note it is interesting you ask that because I told tech support i'd upgraded the bios, used older and new drivers, but they never asked about AC!

I believe I have the Intel one in my 2623 D6U; however, I feel that the signal is much weaker than the SMC external card I use in my old laptop. Over 4 years I have used two cards both from SMC -- first one died after 2~3 years, second one is still going strong. I am under Win 2K with the old lappy. With my new T60 2623D6U I am using all default setup, maybe I need to twek some of these to improve signals?
Not sure what to do... I need to use wireless all day 5 days a week, this is not good.
SInce I'll be making such high use of wireless, should I buy an external card to use all the time in the office, and use the internal Intel one only when I am away from the office travelling? Unfortunately I cannot hardwire to the cable modem, it's on a different floor.
Thnaks for any tips or suggestions !
