I am trying to configure the ATI POWERPLAY for Maximun Battery or Balanced mode, and it will appear in the Preferred Setting Balanced or Optimal Battery Life, nontheless in the Active Settings it will always says Optimal Performance.

Do you know if I am doing something wrong ?, why it is not possible to set the Video Card to work in LOW Battery mode ?, please your comments, thanks

AFAIK, PowerPlay will not work if you're using Omega drivers. I know it doesn't work for me with Omega drivers while it did for the original thinkpad drivers.

Thanks, what are the Omega Drivers ?, I am using the Thinkpad 8.241.1-060324a-031947C Drivers, also I am using NHC (Notebook Hardware Control), please do you have other idea why it could be failing ?, thanks

Omega drivers are special ATI drivers optimized for performance. I got almost a 300pt boost in 3DMark05 score after using Omega drivers. They are available at http://www.omegadrivers.net/

If you're using the original Thinkpad drivers and Powerplay is still not working for you, I'm not too sure what the problem may be. Perhaps there could be some kind of conflict with NHC, I don't really know.

In my case, I wonder if it's possible to get Powerplay working even when using Omega drivers. Or is it just me who is having the problem?

Actually it works while in Battery Mode, nonetheless If I try to force the settings to Balanced or Battery Mode, while it is plugged to the AC it will always work in Performance Mode

Same problem here, the ati ccc always tells me that my notebook is plugged in and running in performance mode. (t60 x1400)

If you're using NHC, and you enable PowerPlay through NHC, you can somewhat get it to work when you're on battery by repeatedly toggling the Activate Powerplay tick box until it registers that it is on battery and underclocks the graphics core/mem. I can't seem to get it to recognize that it is on battery otherwise.

cheers!

After reinstalling the ati drivers, the ccc now recognizes that it runs on batteries and changes the powerplay setting accordingly.
