CD recording problem (Matshita DVD RAM UJ-842-RB01)

#1 Post by neutron » Fri Jun 23, 2006 9:46 pm

Hi,

I just got my new 2007C4U today and started setting it up.
While I'm trying to creat rescue and recovery CDs, I wasted 5 blank CDs during recording and still did not finish Disc 3. It looks like the writing step is okay but the verification step does not start at all.

The blank CDs are HP 80min/700MB and have had no problem like this before.

Can I think this is due to the defective hardware (DVD writer) ?

Hmm.. I also had some issues when recording recovery disks. I wasted like 3 CD's .

By the way, is there a way to make recovery disks in DVD only so I don't have to keep so many CD's?

I didn't see any options when recording them

When I made the Product Recovery Disc set, I used a CD for the first disc, and a DVD for the second. Many have used this method. Note what thibouille27 wrote in the following thread. http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=25552

First CD is the Rescue & recovery -and must be a CD; remaining can be 5 or 6 CDs or one DVD.
No it can be DVD... kinda stupid but it makes no problem, I can prove it  since I used it
