Previous T models had a function to save configuration settings. Where is the same function now found?

Configsafe hasn't been around for a while (at least four years IIRC).

My T43 model had a version of it. It was found under IBM Access, Data security / create or restore configuration settings.

Called by another name it has been around up to recently.

Something having to do with R&R? Recovery Media springs to mind as I have that on my T43. Although it is a bit more advanced than the older Configsafes that used to be on the T Series. :)

My answer related to the program named Configsafe. You can save configuration settings with System Migration Assistant (IBM) and Save my Settings (Microsoft) ... JD Hurst

I have used Configsafe and what I used has not come on any TP I have used in the last five years. What are you thinking of, if not the ideas posted in here?

Isn't System Restore in System Tools of XP about the same thing?

I found it.

Go to Access help and in the index you will find "CONFIGSAFE".

It says as follows:

"When you add software applications or devices to your computer, the installation process might change your registry and configuration.

If your computer does not work correctly after you add applications or devices, you might need to restore earlier registry entries or saved configuration settings.

Before you make changes, create a snapshot of (back up) the computer registry and configuration. If something goes wrong, you can restore the system registry and configuration files.

To create or restore a snapshot of your system registry and configuration settings, click this button and follow the on-screen instructions.

This is how you get to configsafe (renamed system restore)

"To access the System Restore Wizard, click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore".

It used to be called configsafe - now its called system restore - it does the same thing!

I was surprised to see Configsafe in the Access Index. And it does point to System Restore. But the Configsafe I used a number of years ago was quite different and (so far as I can see) not a forerunner of System Restore (which is a Microsoft application). Glad to hear you found what you were looking for. ... JD Hurst
