Hi guys,
1st post! I just got my T60P 2623 DDU today and trying to update all the drivers when something interesting happened with the video drivers. I tried to install the new v5200 drivers from the ATI site but it fails. During the install it says that it does not see any compatible hardware. The drivers were released yesterday so I'm hoping some of you give it a go and see if you can get them to work.

As far as the new hardware goes I'm happy w. it. I'm a little sad however to get rid of my T42P (I love that laptop)! :)

thanks,
Lance

Are you sure they were also designed for the laptop video chipset? That same model also is made for full PCIe desktop cards.

No, I'm not certain the drivers are for the latop chipset. That may have been the problem. I have downloaded the video drivers from the thinkpad site and they seem to be doing fine.

I will play around with the different drivers that are availible to see which one's give me the best performance. My current 3dmark 2005 score is:3277

Normally, I would tell you to see Patje's site over at http://www.driverheaven.net/patje/

He writes a modtool to change Catalyst installation files in-place so it recognizes mobile chipsets. But the current released version (V3) doesn't support the v5200, aka x1600.

So, that leaves you with two solutions.

1. Download the MobileCatalyst version of ATI's CCC. It bypasses the chipset check and lets you install on a v5200:
http://www.ati.com/online/mobilecatalyst/

2. Download http://users.skynet.be/FCB/files/DHModtool4c.exe which is a special version of the modtool to get the x1600 (v5200) to work.

patje sent me that link to mod drivers, but told me not to tell anyone about that link... lol

Anyway, I was able to sucessfully modify and install the Catalyst 6.6. Now Half-Life 2 Espisode 1 runs better. :)
