Weird Hard Disk stuffs

^ Read this about my R52 HDD.
I took the HDD out from my R52 and fix it to my T60 and boot and everything can light up except it beeps without stopping. I used my T60 HDD on my R52 and also can boot up but got bluetooth and some additional hardware errors. <--This one i know why because R52 has less hardwares then my T60 so this is not surprising to me.
What surprises me is my HDD from R52 which was confirmed to be DEAD by many people actually boot up in my T60. ??? *Scratch*
Now, i am busy copying all my R52 Network Images and all the drivers and all the stuffs in the HD to my external samsung 100GB HDD. Shall i continue to use my R52 HDD as external disk or let it be my T60 HDD? Can i trust that it will not be dead after i used it for 1 week plus???
What on earth is happening? I don't understand this HDD miracle on another thinkpad of mine. But it just could not work in my R52.
????? Any idea what's happening???

OK, just so that I understand...
Did you remove the R52 hard HDD from the R52, and placed it in the hard drive caddy with in the T60 and it just beeped repeatedly?
However, you were able to remove the T60 HDD and placed it in the caddy within the R52 and it booted fine, with just a few exceptions?
Just trying to clarify, so that I can help.

No, what i am trying to say is why so many confirmed that my R52 Hard Disk is dead but when i transfer it into my T60, it booted up fine but i can understand the beepings because of some hardwares issues. The T60 HDD can boot up fine in R52 also beep because of Hardware issues.
Now, i want to know why after the sawp everything seemed to run well but when i placed my R52 Hard Disk back into my R52, it won't boot. <--Original HDD.
R52 showed me Missing OS. When left in T60, it runs Windows XP Pro and fine... No error or anything wrong with the HD.
Miracle or something wierd happened???
I don't believe my eyes when i saw the HD actually booted up in my T60 But if i swap it into my X60, system BIOS showed my (-). Means cannot detect the HD at all. T60<--Got magic or ???:?
^I am not making up stories. It is real. I can't believe it also...

How are you putting the R52 HDD in the T60, via an ultra bay or in the actual hard drive caddy? And vice versa, the T60 HDD into the R52?
Are they seating properly when you switch them back?

Did you ever have both hard drives in your T60 at the same time?
One time I put my T42 drive as a second drive in my T60. When I booted, Windows changed the T42 drive's registry such that it booted from the T42 drive which was now named D:. When I put the drive back in the T42, it was all messed up because it was now back to a C: drive but the registry on the boot drive pointed to drive D:. I googled the error message and found a fix for the problem but it took a while to get it right.
Do you get an error message when you try to boot your R52? If so, what is it?

Yes, please explain how you are putting the T60's HDD into the R52 and the R52's into the primary of the T60; I am very interested in learning how to do such things as it could save me some money on future HDD purchases.

R52 HDD --> T60 (work but beep non stop due to hardware)
R52 HDD --> X60 (Cannot detect HDD)
T60 HDD --> R52 (work but beep non stop due to hardware)
X60 HDD --> R52 (System Error)
Now External Samsung 100GB in to R52 (error 2010 Beep twice and press ESC and run and now running fine...)
Got a scare from some friends that my motherboard is damaged...
*relief*

I understand where you are putting them, I am trying to figure out how. Internally via the hard drive caddy, ultrabay drive, or an external hard drive case.
This makes a big difference on why you might get such errors, and then no errors.

How are you putting a PATA drive in a machine that takes SATA?
How are you putting a SATA drive in a machine that takes PATA?
The connections are not anywhere near close so you are obviously using an external device to "boot" these hard drives is that correct?

Nothing except a fire wire.
I don't know anything about this hardware stuffs just helping others based on what i had experienced using the TP only.
I got many problems with my T60 but 1 ex member from here (brandon) who just requested to leave on his own (don't know what happen because i tail his posting history and see nothing which breach any of the rules)..

Helped me solve all my problems. So i rarely post questions about my T60 unless he is not around when i need help.
I know about the PATA and SATA atuffs but firewire solved all problems??? I can use these HDD on another TP with no problem.. I really don't know why.

So I see.....that is evident enough with regards to the knowledge of hardware. If I recall correctly, you mentioned nothing about an external enclosure, firewire or otherwise; rather, you said you put them *in* the T60 and swapped the primary HDDs with the R52. You cannot do that with a SATA HDD from a T60 and a PATA connector/controller on the R52.

That, actually, is a good idea...I would recommend keeping it that way.

Got immediate support from someone sitting beside me and service FOC, i think i will go for it. But for my R52, no support except from some of you and most of the support come from BillMorrow PMs to me. *sigh!*
PS: I like the response coming from that lady with that bird avatar righ above this post.

That is no user; that is an Admin, NS. You might be interested is some other responses along those lines, but.....
You might not like what you get in the end; because that "user," you poor soul, is an Admin to be feared and respected greatly. .

Yup; Nonny has always had, and always will, have great suggestions. Perhaps you should take them to heart....
Then again, you could always stick around, enjoy things while you can; the party is just getting started.
