How much extra performance I get with Code-Duo v/s Core-Solo

I was thinking to Disable Core-Duo and enable Core-Solo, do you think I will loose to much in performance ?, or for normal Office use it will be undetectable ?, thanks

For normal Office use? Pretty much undetectable if you are using one core or two. Keep in mind that certain applications benefit more from dual core and parallel processing than others as accorded by Amdahl's Law. Some applications lend themselves to parallel processing very well, Excel could benefit as could AccessDB if you use it , whilst others, Word, Powerpoint, etc, would have little to no use nor would they derive any benefit from dual core.

So if all you are doing is Office and surfing the web for the time being, it would be just fine to use only one core; it should also give you better battery life as well.
