I had a T60/p recently delivered. Wireless worked with access connections out of the box (802.1x & WEP), but I had some issues with dropouts, so decided to upgrade drivers. Possibly a bad idea since I think it is now *worse*

The card is the intel wireless 3945abg

I upgraded BIOS (think it was 1.04) to 1.07
AC from 4.11a to 4.12
Driver from ? (10.1.0.13?) to 10.1.1.3.API

Access connections would then not connect - failed on "Unable to apply wireless settings".

I've finally ended up with the later versions back installed, and it worked for one reboot, then wouldn't. After switching to use of XP, it too couldn't see any wireless networks.

I have checked for the shared library mentioned earlier - which I don't have in \windows or \windows\system32

Call tech support and get them to send you another card. These cards (probably in concert with some routers) just don't have the power to sustain a good connection(that's based on my personal experience and what I have seen posted here and with conversations with Lenovo tech support twice). There are also a few posts in this forum specifically related to problems with the intel card.

System restore?

Did you get the machine from Lenovo or a third party? If you're within the 30 day window they should send another at your request. If not I have one I'll send you. Unless your OCONUS.

Hmm...I have an Intel and nothing's going wrong with mine at all. I'm out in my back yard right now using it and all I have is an old crappy netgear router.

Maybe this routers better than I thought?

As strange as it may sound, I get great signal strength under linux with ip3945 drivers. Windows is then a totaly different story. Seems like new windows drivers are in order here.....

Probably a stupid question, but have you guys tried changing the Power save mode in Access Connections? Profile > Wireless Settings > 5. Advanced configuration: Settings > Power save mode:.

My 3945abg card has been working great. I dumped AC before ever connecting to a network and used the network connection wizard to set up the machine for my primary network. AC may or may not be a factor, all I know is that it has never worked right every time I've tried it. Anyhow, my card reports low or very poor strength perhaps a little more/sooner than my 2200bg cards, but the difference is that it is less likely to throttle back the connection speed than my 2200bg cards. I get faster rates at farther distances than any of my 2200bg cards. Needless to say I'm very happy. Primary AP is a Linksys WAP54G

I have, to no avail. I have the same problem as the first poster. I can see the wireless networks and can get a good signal from them, but either the settings fail or something is wrong with driver or the card itself. Anyway, I cannot connect to any APs.

Any further ideas are welcome. I've already tried most of the ones referred to in this and the other thread on wireless and T60.

My machine is a T60p (2007-83G) with WinXP pro and the latest drivers.

Oh, and is it normal that the icons on the desktop flicker when the wireless radio is turned on? This is my first laptop so be gentle with me ;0)

One thing I've noticed with my T60P is that if both the WWAN radio and WLAN radios are on, neither connection works well. By not working well, I mean Access connections will fail to connect to either services. I've also learned not to trust the led icons on the bottom to let me know if the radios are on or off.

I usually have WLAN on all the time and the other off. Play with the hardware on/off switch a few times and I sometimes will have the WWAN radio on, but the led will be off. Nothing a simple Fn-F5 didn't solve.
