how to stop the beeping

my thinkpad beeps at me at these times:
waking up from sleep mode
Going down into sleep mode
Unplug power cord
plug in power cord
How can I stop this???
I know that if my audio is muted I don't hear the beeps but I want to leave my audio on normally.

Have you tried disabling the beeps in BIOS? You can access BIOS by pressing F1 when the machine boots.

really easy
go to power manager for your thinkpad
Under the tab for global power settings, uncheck beep when power states change
piece of cake

EDIT: sorry, post wrongly. Uncheck the checkbox with the word beep when power state changes.

Very nice. Going into power manager and unchecking the beep option worked. No more beeping! thanks for pointing me in the right direction and thanks for the welcome to the website.
